<font face="georgia">A nun and a priest are out on the golf course for a round of golf. The priest sets up for the first tee, swings, and a piece of grass goes flying...the ball and tee remain.
"Gxxdammit, missed". Says the priest.
"Father, one shouldn't take The Lords name in vain" says the nun as a black set of clouds passes over head.
"Yeah, yeah..." says the priest and manages to get the ball off on the next swing.
Five holes later, the priest tees up again, and manages to loft a piece of grass again.
"GxxDammit! Missed again!" says the priest.
"Father, please! Your language!" says the nun, as quite a few dark clouds float overhead with a little bit of rumble, then clears.
On the 12 hole, a sizeable chunk of real estate goes flying...ball and tee remain.
Priest: "GXXDAMMIT!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE..." as the clouds this time are all over the sky, the rumbling is like a freight train 3 feet away, and a bolt of lightning flashes out...and strikes the nun.
Voice from the Heavens: "Dammit...missed".
Glad you're ok, Fan. Like an earthquake, your first indication is "SURPRISE!!!"

I was talking to my mother yesterday and told her about the lightning strike. She told me an ancestor of mine, on my father's side, was struck by lightning through a window.
I didn't hear any booming voices fussing about missing....

Hey all. Azziz, if you want to delete this post that is totally kosher, not sure if it is appropriate but what the hey...
Nommy, Merle, Valen, and I ended up chatting on MSN messenger the other day. As most people know, Merle cannot post here (it is considered a chat site. He can use MSN messenger but not post here. Go figure.) I am told that Merle is not the only one prohibited from posting here. What I learned yesterday is that Merle and the others are able to participate at Speculative Vision.
I am proposing that people move to SV for at least the social topics.
This is in no way a reflection of hostboard. I prefer Hostboards set up (I hate how SV archives topics after 20 posts) but folks cannot post here. At SV our friends who cannot post here can post. Also, there are new posters there, that fresh blood does alot to invegorate posters.
If people are angry at me for suggesting this, Azziz can remove this post. I have no problems with this. If we are interested in posting and keeping in touch, then I think we need to find one site that we can all use. For a variety of reasons, it seems that SV is that one site.

I'm not offended. I post over at SV, too, and didn't realize there were people who couldn't post here.
Not to change the subject... but I wish I knew how to show you guys a really neat PowerPoint presentation a former boss of mine sent me. It's an unclassified intelligence briefing, consisting of photos taken in Iraq as some of our troops unearth a MiG-25 Flogger. The Iraqis buried it, maybe thinking we wouldn't find it. The big mound of dirt was something of a giveaway, I guess, plus somebody took their metal detector out there and it beeped or chirped or whatever it is they do. Some of the pictures are reminiscent of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when they were digging to find the entrance to the place where the ark was hidden.
I wonder how many other aircraft, or other things, they've found buried.

I thought about that, but I wasn't sure everybody wanted to get an email from me with an attachment -- viruses abound, and I didn't want to upset anybody.

Email away, Fan. Virii generally make themselves known by hosing up your system or you get email from a bunch of friends that accuse you of things you've never done. The other way if you have access to a web server, is post the link. Yeah, I know, not everyone has a web page. Most ISP offer it, just don't advertise it that much. Or, email it to me, , and I'll put it up on mine. The Boston pictures are pretty old, and I could use something new...

fan,
One does not need to own PowerPoint to view a PowerPoint presentation. Microsoft provides a free viewer. Just e-mail the presentation and include a link to This Microsoft Web Page so that folks can go and download the viewer.

It's on the way. BTW, having just switched to RoadRunner I'm still unfamiliar with what I have as far as benefits, but it appears we're authorized a home page, so I can put this sort of thing there. Now all I need is some time to figure out how to put the thing together.... That's the hard part, finding the time. Oy.
Cheers, y'all.
